Kansas District to Take Part in Kiwanis Unity Motorcyle Ride
Kansas Kiwanis has been invited to be a part of an extraordinary event planned for this summer to broaden the focus of the ELIMINATE PROJECT. Our Eliminate Coordinators have been asked to work with members of the Kiwanis Club of La Canada to publicize the Kiwanis International/UNICEF project. A member of La Canada club will be riding his motorcycle to a Kiwanis Club meeting in each of the 48 states in the continental U.S. The ride will exceed 12,000 miles.
Plans at this time are for the motorcycle rider, Robert Burlison, called the "Eliminator," to leave his club in La Canada on Memorial Day, 2013, and finish at the same location on Labor Day, 2013. Hopes are to have this ride qualify as the longest "all in one country" motorcycle ride - a Guinness Book of Records.
The "Eliminator" will enter the Wichita area around June 7 where plans are to host a Kiwanis interclub meeting and media coverage. A motorcycle welcoming guard to meet him when he enters Kansas may also be planned. Dates and locations of planned events will be announced at later dates. Anyone wishing to help or be involved in this project please contact Dot Leakey, District Coordinator, or one of your Division Coordinators.
